A quick trip To Oregon

I left Matt in Idaho (he had finals, eek!) and drove all the way to Portland for an impromptu family reunion (we managed to get the entire family together, well at least the siblings for my mom's birthday party) and for my sister's endowment too! I had so much fun that i didn't want to leave. I even stayed an extra 6 hours on the day i was supposed to leave because i just couldn't go yet. I didn't get back home till 3 am but it was worth it!

Vegas.

Just trying to actually catch up on everything we've done this summer.... it's going to be quite a challenge though. And by no means will any of this be in order. ha.

So lets skip back to July when i went to Vegas with my sisters and our family friends! It was a much needed vacation.... although Matt stayed home and worked the week i was gone, so i don't know if HE thought it was a vacation....

We ate Crepes (twice!). Went shopping. Went swimming. Walked the strip (and luckily it was not too trashy that night, at least that's what they tell me....) and then went to the pool again. It also brought me back to my days living in Arizona and I'm kinda glad i moved. It was just so unbearably hot. i think i forgot about that! And it was so nice to see my sisters again now we we all live in separate states. This trip was completely worth it. I had so much fun but i did wish we could have all stayed longer.

A little bit of Catch Up.

Time for a little catch up. Back at the beginning of the summer i saw an ad in the paper about free breakfast... and to tell you the truth i didn't remember much besides that, and that it was at the airfield in town. All i needed was the sentence "free breakfast" and i had already set a reminder in my phone for that day. I only had my old Minolta with me (light leaks and all) so that's the main reason why these pictures are late.... well that and I'm lazy but lets just skip past that....

The best part of the entire day thought was talking to the janitor. He had the BEST stories and had us cracking up for a good hour with all the tales he had to tell. This man had been in two wars and even hitchhiked across the states with only 10$ just to go to an airshow, because as he said "it doesn't matter how much money you have, sometimes you only get one chance to do something, and in the end you get to keep the memories... that's what is more important in life... memories will long outlive the money you save"

That Time we hiked a waterfall

When we moved into our new apartment we had the choice of either going to the family ward or the student married ward. And since were planning on staying in this apartment till we graduate next July, We figured it was our last chance ever to be in a student married ward, so we went for it. I have to say it was totally worth it. And we came in the ward just in time to go to all the summer activities. Like this Ward Camping trip.

Now if I'm being honest I'm not the best camper. I don't like bugs, sleeping on the freezing ground is not my idea of fun, and after a day i really just want my bed back. But man do i LOVE being outside. So i put up with it. But it sure is annoying when i have one heavy duty sleeping bag, a hat, two pairs of socks, and three blankets on top of me, and i still wake up as a human popsicle! While my husband who has the equivalent of a thin blanket on him wakes up as hot as a furnace. Unfair. It's just unfair.

But in light of all that i still can't wait to go again next year. And if i'm lucky, climb that waterfall again. Seriously, i don't think I've done anything that cool in quite along time.
